项目简介 为进一步促进上海科普工作的国际化，加强国际间的交流与合作，特邀英国爱丁堡科技节有限公司负责人西蒙先生参加2005年上海科技节系列活动。
参加的活动有：
1、 2005年上海国际科普论坛，作主题为“公众理解科学——科技传播的社会化运作”专题报告；
2、 2005年上海科技节开幕式；
3、 2005年上海科技节重点活动；
4、 参观2049试点学校，考察上海科学教育现状。
人物简介：
英国爱丁堡科技节兼科技中心负责人西蒙•盖吉博士毕业于Bristol大学物理系和爱丁堡大学电子工程系，之后便在爱丁堡大学里从事电脑存储器方面的研发工作。1990年，西蒙博士进入爱丁堡科技有限公司从事教育和编程方面的工作，并成为这方面的专家。1991年，西蒙博士创建了适合学校低年龄学生的科普教育课程，这一课程曾在2004年苏格兰巡回演讲时吸引了6000名的小学生，收到广泛的欢迎。1994年，西蒙博士成为爱丁堡科技节有限公司的负责人，以市场化的运作模式使该科技公司扭亏为盈，并创立了许多成功的科普活动项目。这些年来，西蒙博士一直从事科普方面的工作，致力于揭开生活中“非自然”物理现象的奥秘。

Brief Introduction of the Item:
In order to further strengthen international exchanges and cooperation, promote the internationalization of science popularization in Shanghai, Shanghai Association of Science and Technology, cooperated with Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, has invited Dr Simon Gage, Director, Edinburgh International Science Festival to participate in activities of 2005 Shanghai Science Festival.
The main activities of Mr. Simon Gage in Shanghai are as follows:
1. Attend 2005 Shanghai International Forum on Science Popularization and give the keynote presentation on “Public Understandings of Science—Socialized Operation of Scientific Dissemination ”;
2. Attend the opening ceremony of 2005 Shanghai Science Festival in Shanghai Science & Technology Museum;
3. Participate in the key activities of 2005 Shanghai Science Festival;
4. Visit the “2049 pilot project” School, and observe science education in Shanghai.
Biographical Notes:
Dr Simon Gage, Director, Edinburgh International Science Festival and Edinburgh Science Center Ltd educated at Bristol University in the area of physics, and then completed the second part of this degree at the Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Edinburgh, where he subsequently took up a research post working for BP Ventures on novel computer memory devices. He joined the Edinburgh International Science Festival in 1990 as the Educational and Hands-On Programmer. A year later, he established the highly popular Schools Program, which in 2004 toured to 60,000 pupils across Scotland. In 1994, Dr Simon Gage took over the responsibility as Festival Director. He has overseen the Festival’s transition from a loss-making organization to one that operates at a modest annual surplus and one that has a reputation for consistently delivering high quality events. In these years, he has done some popular science writings and enjoys undertaking demonstrations of unusual physical phenomena.

项目简介 为拓展科普传播的手段和途径，特邀请英国爱丁堡科技节有限公司的2名专家来沪做科学表演，并与上海魔术表演家合作，以其生动活泼的形式激发青少年对科学的兴趣，启迪科学教育的创新理念。
英国科学表演
英国科学表演是英国爱丁堡科技节有限公司的斯蒂芬先生编写和导演的。12年来，表演剧组所创作的以科学为基础的表演剧获得了巨大的成功，共演出7000多场，吸引了超过140多万的青少年。同时还出版各类以科技教育为特色的光盘，帮助科学教师、科技传播者和青少年以一种新的方式及手段来体验科学的魅力。

上海科普魔术表演
上海科普魔术表演是由上海著名的魔术表演家付腾龙先生根据多年的表演实践提炼而成。它将科学原理与魔术技巧相结合，以一种全新的方式让广大青少年和公众在欣赏魔术的同时，感受学习科学知识的快乐。

Brief Introduction of the Item:
In order to explore the means and ways of scientific dissemination, Shanghai Association of Science and Technology, cooperated with Cultural and Education Section of the British Consulate-General, has invited two experts from Edinburgh International Science Festival to perform science drama in Shanghai with the local magicians.

Science Show by Floating Point Theatre
In the past twelve years, Science dramas, science-based stories written and directed by Mr. Steve Mesure from Edinburgh International Science Festival, have been performed over 7000 to a total audience and attracted more than 1.4million children. In addition, a variety of educational CD-ROMS on science have been published, which help scientific teachers, communicators and students enjoy the science education in a new way.

Shanghai Scientific Magic Show
Shanghai Scientific Magic Shows, extracted by Mr. Fu Tenglong, a famous local magician from his performing career, combine scientific knowledge with magic skill for the public especially for the adolescents to experience the pleasure of science education during the whole process.

项目简介    上海市科学技术协会与澳大利亚驻上海总领馆首次携手合作，共同举办上海科技节系列活动之“澳大利亚高校艺术与设计创新展” 及研讨会。本次展览将让上海公众有机会领略澳大利亚艺术教育在艺术和设计领域的创意作品和成功理念。研讨会则为上海本地的艺术类院校和机构提供与澳大利亚院校相互交流和探讨的宝贵机会，为在艺术设计广大领域的进一步合作和联系提供平台。
本次展览将于2005年5月19日至5月22日于上海浦东东方明珠电视塔零米大厅举行，届时，以艺术设计教育为特色的八所澳大利亚大学的十多位专家学者将与广大市民面对面交流，亲自展示学生们的艺术作品。展览形式为多媒体展示、实物设计展品、互动展品和图片等。
同时拟邀请此次来沪的所有澳方代表和上海艺术设计领域的有关专家、学者代表参加于5月18日在科学会堂举办的“澳大利亚高校艺术与设计创新展”研讨会及此后的由科协举办的招待酒会，为两国的艺术专家和教育家提供更多合作交流机会。

Brief Introduction of the Item:
The Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST) and the Australian Consulate-General in Shanghai will jointly hold the first exhibition and forum on Australian education in Creative Art & Design as part of the Shanghai Science Festival activities. The exhibition will provide a unique opportunity for the public to see the creative works and concepts of Australian art students. A round-table forum will enable local art and design institutions to meet with counterparts from key Australian arts institutions to exchange views, providing a platform for further cooperation and interaction in the broad area of the creative arts and design.
The exhibition will be held at the Shanghai Oriental Pearl Tower Zero Metre Hall in Pudong, Shanghai from 19 to 22 May 2005.  Experts and scholars from eight of Australia’s leading universities in art and design education will be present on 19 May to talk to the public and showcase the works of their students and graduates including multi-media, objects, and interactive exhibits and displays.
The China-Australia Round-Table Forum on Creative Art & Design Education will be held on 18 May at the Hall of Science in Nanchang Lu, Shanghai. The representatives of the Australian institutions and well-known Chinese experts and scholars will be invited to attend the Forum and cocktail party hosted by SAST afterwards, to encourage greater cooperation and exchange between arts practioners and educationalists from both countries.

项目简介    澳大利亚科技中心设计制作的巡回展项“迷人的科学”和“科学动起来”由61个展品组成，已在10多个国家和地区巡回展出并受到各地观众的普遍欢迎。
            “科学动起来”是为使世界各地人民都能体验互动性科学的乐趣而设计的，各个展品具有趣味性强、色彩鲜艳、体积小、运输经济省钱、装配容易、无须电力等优点，适用于地区性和国际性的巡展和科技节。核心的33个展品全部由手工制成，覆盖了广泛的科学领域。
“迷人的科学”是一个色彩丰富、参与性强的展品集，共有28个展品，分为三大主题：答疑解惑、眼见为实、电力磁场。这些展品寓科学知识和参与性、趣味性于一体，不仅有助于提高广大市民特别是青少年的科学兴趣，更能促进上海对科普展品的研究和制作水平。
另有上海科技馆提供的12件以“智慧之光”命名的互动性展品。

The Australian Traveling Exhibitions consist of Science on the Move and Fascinating Science, totally with 61 exhibits, which have been displayed in over 10 countries or areas in Australia and received with warm welcome. 
Science on the Move is an exhibition designed to take the excitement of interactive science to everyone, no matter where they are! Science on the Move is fun, educational, colorful, compact, economical to transport, easy to install and requires no electricity. It is ideal for regional and international tours as well as science festivals. The core 33 hands-on exhibits cover a wide range of scientific topics and the unique text panel design allows exhibit texts to be presented in any language.
Fascinating Science is a colorful, hands on exhibition, which encourages visitors to discover scientific principles relevant to their everyday lives.
