SAST Delegation Visited Dutch Universities and Genoa Science Festival

    SAST sent a delegation of six people led by Vice President Mr. Wang Zhiyong to pay a visit to the science shops in the Netherlands and the Genoa Science Festival from Oct.17 to Oct.26. This visit aimed to further enhance exchanges and cooperation with the Genoa Science Festival in terms of science popularization exhibitions and training of scientific explainers. Apart from this, the delegation also hoped to promote collaboration with Dutch sci-tech communities to extend the global communication network of SAST.
 
    In the University of Groningen, the coordinator of the science shop Dr.Henk Mulder introduced to the delegation members about its history, operation mode, its interactions with the public, integration with teaching and the role of the coordinator. Besides, he also made a brief introduction of the PERARES project and the science communication post graduate project of the Mathematics and Natural Science College of the University. During the delegation’s visit to Utrecht University, Dr. Victor Winter and Mr. Jasper van Winden explained the new challenges faced by science shops, measures they had taken to cope with them and also the achievements they had made.

    During the Genoa Science Festival, the delegation members and the president of Genoa Science Festival Association Ms. Manuela Arata exchanged their views on further cooperation in the field of science festivals and Academy for Scientific Explainers. Vice President Mr. Wang signed a letter of intention for cooperation with Genoa Science Festival Association on behalf of SAST.
