SAST delegation attended Sino-Japan Science and Technology Seminar 2011 and the 8th Shanghai·Hong Kong Symposium on Science & Technology

    Sino-Japan Science and Technology Seminar 2011 and the 8th Shanghai·Hong Kong Symposium on Science & Technology was held from Oct.28 to Oct.29 and from Nov.4 to Nov. 5 in Japan and Hong Kong respectively. SAST delegation made up of 44 engineers, experts and entrepreneurs from the urban construction, energy and calamity control fields led by Vice Secretary General Mr. Wang Zufan attended these two events.
 
    Sino-Japan Science and Technology Seminar was jointly organized by Shanghai Association for Science and Technology (SAST), the Shanghai Institution of Engineers(SHIE), the Institution of Professional Engineers Japan (IPEJ) KINKI Branch. This year’s seminar chose the topic of “Constructing a society of sustainable development-What can the science and technology workers do?” as the theme. Delegations from China and Japan had hot discussions on four sub-topics, namely resource and energy, protection of the earth environment, sustainable development of the city and countryside, as well as how to control damage of natural disaster. This seminar concluded successfully with the “2011 Sino-Japan Science and Technology Seminar Declaration.”

    Shanghai·Hong Kong Symposium on Science& Technology has been held by SAST and The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers(HKIE) since 1997. This year’s event focused on the theme of “Constructing a society of sustainable development-improving the ability of urban land management and disaster control and relief”. Engineers and experts exchanged their ideas on sustainable land supply in urban development, energy security and disaster control.
